How to Prevent Your Crypto Wallet From Being Hacked

cryptocurrency wallet

Nowadays, cryptocurrency is showing up in numerous industries. Though we cannot tell anything for sure, the latest predictions of crypto experts sound rather optimistically: in the nearest future we’ll be able to pay in crypto for the groceries, enjoy our favourite online games on the websites and even complete tax payments with cryptocurrency.

Still, there are lots of details to consider while preparing for this financial future. You may want to read up on how blockchain technology works, discuss it with experts and equip yourself with a secure cryptocurrency wallet. In this article, we will touch on one of these topics. Here, we’re going discuss what a crypto wallet is and what the best ways of preventing it from being hacked are.

What is a crypto wallet?

The decentralized nature of cryptocurrency implies that there are no banks and therefore no bank accounts. In the world of crypto, you must become your own bank and bank manager. Instead of letting a bank store your fiat currencies, you keep your digital currency in a storage known as a crypto wallet. Similar to fiat currency banking, there are several available options. Instead of choosing between banks and accounts, you choose between providers of a specific product – a cryptocurrency wallet.

Preventing Hackers from Accessing Your Crypto Wallet

Choosing a crypto wallet that is highly secure is the first step in preventing hackers from gaining access to your wallet and stealing all your digital coins. However, you too take your share of responsibility. To make sure that the wallet remains bulletproof and unhackable, follow the tips listed below – they will help to keep your cryptocurrency safe.

Avoid public WiFi

Hackers often lurk on public WiFi connections because they can carry out different types of attacks to find cryptocurrency. One of the biggest problems is that your devices may connect to public WiFi without even meaning to. Just walking past a Starbucks you become prey for hackers. The safest thing to do is to keep your WiFi switched off or to purchase a dongle. This small trick has the potential to save you thousands at some point.

Use two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication can serve as another line of defense if someone does have access to your passwords. However, unlike other two-factor authentication protocol which usually relies on SMS or emails, this is not the best solution. If tech-savvy hackers located your password, they are probably able to breach your email security and divert SMS too. A non-syncing application may be better in these scenarios.

Make sure your e-mail is secure

It is imperative that a secure e-mail service is employed. There are several all encrypted service providers like ProtonMailTutanota and Hushmail which offer you a better defense against the attempts to breach your inbox. Their encryption allows reading the e-mail only to its sender and receiver.

Be cautious when downloading

Downloading files from popular online hangouts such as Reddit, Facebook and even cryptocurrency forums is quite dangerous. These files may include malicious malware that reads your keystrokes or even shares your screen with hackers. Just don’t take the risk and install the best online security software to counter these threats.

Handle your private keys carefully

Crypto wallets come with private keys as a type of password. If you can remember these keys then great, but most of us will forget them at some point. The solution is to never keep them written on your computer. Instead, put them down and keep them stored in a locked drawer at home or in your usual safe place. Keeping them on devices is a potential security threat.

Living by these five rules will help you protect your cryptocurrency investment.

WhatsApp’s New Update Will Ensure You Don’t Send Pictures To The Wrong Contact

whatsapp new updates status

We all have accidentally sent pictures to contacts we were not supposed to on WhatsApp. And thankfully, the popular messaging app is now rolling out a new feature that can save you from this goof-up.

A new WhatsApp update is on the way for Android which will help a user double check the name of the contact to whom they want to send images to before hitting the send button.

Now, you will be spared of the embarrassment of your pictures ending up with somebody they weren’t meant for. Currently, the app shows the image of recipients in the top left-hand corner of the screen when an image is being selected and edited by the user. This new update will be a more productive substitute rather than the need to delete sent messages and arousing confusion to the recipient.

The update, which is currently running for the WhatsApp Android Beta version, will show you the media recipients’ name below the caption in the screen so that the users can be sure whom they’re sharing their pictures, GIFs and videos with

Apart from this update, WhatsApp has also added the Picture-in-Picture feature. This will allow users to watch videos with the app running in the background, allowing users to switch chats and apps while the video in playing. Both these features are a part of the latest 2.18.301 beta update of WhatsApp for Android. There is no information provided as to when the update will arrive on iOS.

Over the years, WhatsApp has had some interesting updates. The messaging app has also limited the number of text forwards, in an effort to curb the spread of fake news. The company recently announced that it will take legal action against those who use the app for sending automated spam messages. The Facebook-owned application will also start showing ads in the Status tab starting from next year, similar to Instagram Stories.

Facebook Announces Its Libra Cryptocurrency And Wallet

Facebook libra Cryptocurrency Wallet

Facebook was long-rumoured to introduce its own cryptocurrency. Now, stepping into the all-new crypto world, Facebook has finally made its Libra Cryptocurrency official.

The Mark Zuckerberg-owned company has launched its cryptocurrency wallet called Calibra for its Libra cryptocurrency, based on blockchain technology.

The aim of launching a new digital crypto wallet is to allow users to save as much as they can, along with the ability to send, receive and spend virtual money.

Users will be able to send Libra via the Calibra app with ease in a few minutes and will eventually be able to conduct various purchases such as buying stuff by scanning QR code paying bills, and more.

Calibra will follow various privacy steps such as verification and anti-fraud steps, much like banks, to maintain the safety of users. Additionally, Calibra will make sure it doesn’t share users’ information with other apps without his or her knowledge, which becomes a must after all the data breaches Facebook has been a part of.

As stated previously, Facebook has collaborated with various financial institutions as co-founders for its crypto project, such as MasterCard, Visa, PayPal, Stripe, eBay, Spotify, Uber, Lyft, Vodafone Group, Andreessen Horowitz, Facebook, and more.

Calibra will be available as a separate app and on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, starting in 2020.

Facebook, since news of its cryptocurrency popped up, has been banking high on the new arena and with its official announcement, the new wallet could help attract more people and could compete with the likes if Google Pay and more.

Nonetheless, only time will tell how Facebook’s Calibra fairs in the crypto world.

Infinix aims for empowerment with its revolutionary 32MP Selfie Smartphone

infinix s4

The pace of change in the smartphone scene has been rapid in the last decade, from the introduction of touchscreens to the consistent upgrading of network speed.

It was impossible to imagine the possibility of using a phone as a tool for habitually accessing the virtual world, now its as ubiquitous as sliced bread. When touchscreens were first introduced, they completely changed how we perceived and utilized smartphones. There was a similar transformative shift with the development of smartphone intelligence, specifically cameras infused with AI for better image detection and optimization among others.

Infinix, a brand that has been continuously providing the most cutting-edge technology to consumers, is about to empower them by introducing the impressive 32MP Selfie camera, quite a historic feat that can barely be rivalled. Infinix S4 is set to change the selfie scene with its 32MP AI selfie camera that has significantly higher intelligence with automatic detection capabilities.

The phone also comes with a 6.2’ waterdrop display screen, a triple rear camera for much better portrait images, a fast octa-core processor, a 4000mAh battery power and an upgraded XOS 5.0 software for a seamless operation experience. Infinix is set to assert its authority and reclaim its spot in the competitive smartphone market that had been hemmed by its rivals, providing its customers with an empowerment device to that would not just elevate their selfie skills, but also help position them on the spotlight.

The S4 device will be retailing at Ghc799 and will be available in various platforms and all Infinix Exclusive stores

The S4 is set to challenge the smartphones currently dominating the mid end category, and claim its rightful spot among the top stunning smartphones this year. Infinix has done very well in the past in the entry level category with its SMART and HOT series options. The S series branched out of the HOT series to focus on selfie optimization. The S4 is all about creating the ultimate superior selfie for a purpose, which is to create an empowerment potential for our consumers. When a selfie is taken on the S4, it will be one of a kind, the kind that might turn one into a social media star.

Imagine vivid selfies that can be captured with the 32MP AI selfie camera, such a big capacity with 1.6um ultra pixels and an F2.0 aperture. The camera has a far much higher capacity for light intake and absorption, producing such surreal selfies that can only be fantasized about.

The advanced Samsung S5KGD1 sensor as well the 5P optical lens gives the best contrast and resolution ratios for optimal image refinement. The triple 13MP+8MP+2MP rear camera is an added bonus, permitting the capturing of far wider angles than what is normally possible with an ordinary dual camera.

The triple cameras are responsible for depth, distance and field of view respectively, with the S4 allowing for up to 120°capture. Portrait images from the S4 could be exported to the gallery directly, therefore could easily empower a struggling amateur photographer’s career. The glossy dual glass-like design is the icing on the cake.

It gives the S4 such a royalty appearance, essentially positioning it on the same level as the high-end smartphones.

Empowerment is not possible without reliable power, and Infinix has never disappointed with its battery power. The S4 has incorporated a Smart power management system that helps optimize power utilization by automatically inducing inactive status for apps not in use and halting their background data uptake. In other words, only the needed power is consumed each time the phone is in use, a true innovation that empowers the green environment conservation movement.

Said Mr Charlie  GuohuaCao – Infinix Mobile Brand Manager for Ghana .

Better security is no longer an option but a must have in a gadget, the S4 has infused an algorithm that can detect up to 1024 data points on the face, significantly increasing its facial detection accuracy. The face unlock function in combination with the fingerprint lock technology, together provide solid security for all the data stored in the device.

Infinix is committed to continuously integrate fashion and technology for intelligent lifestyle experiences to those who need it most in the emerging markets. The S4 was re-engineered to come up with the best superior smartphone that is not exorbitant. It will definitely be a gadget to empower many rising stars in various emerging markets, and a true game-changer in the selfie market.

Meet Gerard Nweje: A 12-year-old Mobile Game Developer

ghana software developer

Most 12-year-olds love to play computer games, but one day, Gerard Nweje, a high school student in Ghana decided to delete all the games on his computer to build his own games.

After his parents enrolled him at Codetrain, a special school in Ghana that trains app developers, he discovered that with coding skills, he could realise his dream of building his own mobile games.

To get to the level of building mobile games at Codetrain, he was taught the required technologies such as Java, XML, Android Studio and within a few months, he had already started building his first mobile app.

“When I started it was quite challenging, but I got a lot of mentoring from my teachers at Codetrain, and in less than six months, I started to employ my own game ideas into my Android apps”.

Gerard caught the attention of Tino Mavunga, a Zimbabwean software entrepreneur and media strategist, on her visit to Codetrain and she suggested that he meets Eyram Akofa Tawiah, CEO of Leti Arts, a globally recognised award winning Ghanaian game development and digital comics company. Leti Arts recently released Karmzah (the world’s first cerebral palsy superheroine) in collaboration with Farida Bedwei, a celebrated Ghanaian software entrepreneur.

Eyram who has mentored quite a good number of young people into success in the tech space offered to mentor Gerard to help harness his full potential. “Meeting Eyram was an inspiring experience, he answered all my questions and encouraged me to even aim higher” – Gerard.

Gerard showcased one of his games at the recently held Demo Day, an event where students of Codetrain showcase their apps to companies and the general public, and the next demo day is scheduled for April 26.

“I believe that our young ones are equally talented as other kids from any corner of the world, and with the right training programs and mentoring, we can help them unleash their talent so that they can do great things and Gerard’s success proves that” Codetrain’s CEO Richard Brandt.
