WhatsApp’s New Update Will Ensure You Don’t Send Pictures To The Wrong Contact

We all have accidentally sent pictures to contacts we were not supposed to on WhatsApp. And thankfully, the popular messaging app is now rolling out a new feature that can save you from this goof-up.

A new WhatsApp update is on the way for Android which will help a user double check the name of the contact to whom they want to send images to before hitting the send button.

Now, you will be spared of the embarrassment of your pictures ending up with somebody they weren’t meant for. Currently, the app shows the image of recipients in the top left-hand corner of the screen when an image is being selected and edited by the user. This new update will be a more productive substitute rather than the need to delete sent messages and arousing confusion to the recipient.

The update, which is currently running for the WhatsApp Android Beta version, will show you the media recipients’ name below the caption in the screen so that the users can be sure whom they’re sharing their pictures, GIFs and videos with

Apart from this update, WhatsApp has also added the Picture-in-Picture feature. This will allow users to watch videos with the app running in the background, allowing users to switch chats and apps while the video in playing. Both these features are a part of the latest 2.18.301 beta update of WhatsApp for Android. There is no information provided as to when the update will arrive on iOS.

Over the years, WhatsApp has had some interesting updates. The messaging app has also limited the number of text forwards, in an effort to curb the spread of fake news. The company recently announced that it will take legal action against those who use the app for sending automated spam messages. The Facebook-owned application will also start showing ads in the Status tab starting from next year, similar to Instagram Stories.
